Pathfinder® Air-Cooled Screw Chiller

Regional Challenges -
Coastal And High Humidity

Daikin chillers are engineered to meet coastal and high humidity challenges.

Corrosion resistance

  • Daikin air-cooled chillers are built with a superior grade of aluminum microchannel coil, making it easy to clean and resistant to galvanic corrosion.
  • Coastal applications: Epoxy-coated microchannel coils provide protection from salt-laden environments. Structural members, rails, control enclosure, and unit panels are fabricated of painted steel and pass the 1000-hour salt spray test per ASTM B117.
  • Composite condenser fans: The composite material used on the condenser fan withstands UV light, heat, and humidity corrosion, making it immune to rust, broken rivets and other ills possible with conventional fans.

Regional Challenges -
Minimal Noise

Daikin chillers offer low noise levels, perfect for sound sensitive applications.

  • Integral compressor discharge: Compressor mechanics reduce noise and vibration at all loads.
  • Variable frequency drives: Allows for substantial noise reduction by controlling the fan speed.
  • Factory-provided sound packages: Sound enclosures, sound attenuation material, and compressor blankets can be added to reduce perceivable noise of the chiller.
  • Unique fan assembly: The fan design features a one-piece, molded blade to move large volumes of air at exceptionally low sound levels.

Regional Challenges -
High/Low Ambient Temperature

Engineered to withstand low and high temperature regions, Daikin chillers smoothly operate no matter the temperature.

  • Low ambient: Factory mounting of a variable frequency drive (VFD) motor on the lead condenser fan motor allow operation down to -20°F
  • Evaporator freeze protection: To protect against freeze-up, insulation and an electric immersion heater are furnished with the evaporator to protect as low as -20°F (-28.9°C).
  • High ambient: Trailblazer® for high ambient operation (105°F-125°F, 40°C-52°C) have an optional high ambient package that includes a fan with a filter in the air intake cooling the control panel.
